Internship information Following are some general guidelines on stage conditions
Candidates who undertook a traineeship internship in one institution cannot apply for an internship with other institutions
Holders of degree, (First or Upper Second class)
Are knowledgeable in English/ French and another official EU Language
When applying, they have to be less than 31 years old.
Good knowledge of French and English and relevant postgraduate experience, are a benefit to those applying for the most popular internship/traineeship positions with the European Commission.
A staggering 6,000-7,000 people apply for an internship with the commission, only 625 are chosen (twice a year).
The Eu Commission Stage process is divided in two stages :
1. Eu Commission Stage Internship Application Form
Applicants have to list their skills, certificates qualifications and experience and choose three directorates/areas of the commission they are most interested in taking their stage in. Copies of qualifications and proof of experience are required on application.
Eu commission officials choose applicants for each directorate, relevant degrees, language skills, relevant skills all help in getting pre-selected for the Commission stage/internship.
The traineeship office does acknowledge all applications and notifies all those who have been pre selected for the EU Commission Stage internship.
2. Blue Book
All the successful candidates for the Eu Commission internship/stage will be listed in the Blue Book. The Blue book is circulated around the commission directorates. It is very important to contact your 'target' directorates once the blue book is published. Discussing with EU officials your work will definitely help in getting your EU Commission internship/stage.
Around one half of the people in the blue book will get a stage at the European Commission.
Stagaires are offered medical insurance (they must provide proof of alternative cover if they do not subscribe to the medical insurance during the stage / internship).The E111 form can be used by EEA residents to obtain full cover whilst living in Belgium. EU Stagaires organize a lot of social activities and events, this is good for networking and having fun. Stagaires are expected to work and prove themselves during their stage/ internship.
