All the European Institutions (mostly located in Brussels) and EU agencies offer paid and unpaid traineeships. The EU commission runs the biggest scheme. The Commission Stage scheme selects around 600 stagaires twice a year.
The Eu Commission is divided into 39 directorates each focusing on a particular area. The commission stage is 5 months long. Stagaires are not limited to the experience within the Directorate they are working in. The Traineeships Office which manages the Commission stage scheme, organizes visits to the other Eu institutions and bodies.
The stage/internships at the Commission depends on the candidate skills and knowledge. Most Stages/internships are in Brussels, Luxembourg there are also stages in Commission representations and even fewer in Commission delegations around the world.
Internship
An Internship at the European Commission does not evolve in a full time job as a Eu official with the Institutions. To become a Eu Official consult the official EPSO website or EU Concour (Eu-Exams.com offer tutorials and tips on passing the EU Concour). The Networking done during the internship will help them get a full time job once they pass the concour and are awaiting appointment. The EU institutions internship will also help in getting used to Brussels and making the decision if you want to move from an internship to a full time job in the European Capital.
