European agencies are not located in Brussels, but regularly recruit a number of people in various international job positions. Most of them also accept un solicited reumes.
European Medicines Agency
Its main responsibility is the protection of public and animal health. The EMEA works as a network, bringing together the scientific resources of the EU and EEA-EFTA Member States to ensure the highest level of evaluation and supervision of medicines in Europe. The Agency cooperates closely with international partners, reinforcing the EU contribution to global harmonisation.

European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia
The primary task of the EUMC is to provide the Community and its Member States with objective, reliable and comparable information and data on racism, xenophobia and anti-Semitic phenomena at the European level in order to establish measures or actions against racism and xenophobia. On the basis of the data collected, the EUMC studies the extent and development of the phenomena, and analyses their causes, consequences and effects. It is also the task of the EUMC to work out strategies to combat racism and xenophobia and to highlight and disseminate examples of good practice regarding the integration of migrants and ethnic and religious minority groups.

European Agency for Reconstruction
The European Agency for Reconstruction is responsible for the management of the main EU assistance programmes in Serbia and Montenegro (the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Montenegro, UN-administered Kosovo) and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. It was established in February 2000 and has its headquarters in Thessaloniki, and operational centres in Belgrade, Pristina, Podgorica and Skopje. It is an independent agency of the European Union, accountable to the European Council and the European Parliament, and overseen by a Governing Board composed of the European Commission and representatives from EU Member States. The Agency oversees a cumulative portfolio of €2 billion across its four operational centres.

European Food Safety Authority
The primary responsibility of the Authority will be to provide independent scientific advice on all matters with a direct or indirect impact on food safety.The Authority has been given a wide brief, so that it can cover all stages of food production and supply, from primary production to the safety of animal feed, right through to the supply of food to consumers. It will gather information from all parts of the globe, keeping an eye on new developments in science.

European Maritime Safety Agency
This new Agency, created in the aftermath of the Erika disaster, contributes to the enhancement of the overall maritime safety system in the Community in order to reduce the risk of maritime accidents, marine pollution from ships and the loss of human lives at sea.
In general terms, the Agency will provide technical and scientific advice to the Commission in the field of maritime safety and prevention of pollution by ships, thereby supporting the Institution in the continuous process of updating and developing new legislation, monitoring its implementation and evaluating the effectiveness of the measures in place. In order to monitor the overall functioning of the Community maritime safety and ship pollution prevention system, Agency officials carry out evaluations in the Member States.

European Aviation Safety Agency
The mission of the Agency is to assist the Community in:
- establishing and maintaining a high, uniform level of civil aviation safety and environmental protection in Europe;
- facilitating the free movement of goods, persons and services;
- promoting cost efficiency in the regulatory and certification processes;
- assisting Member States in fulfilling their ICAO obligations on a common basis;
- promoting world-wide Community views regarding civil aviation safety standards.
The agency will develop its know-how in all the fields of civil aviation safety in order to assist the Community Institutions in the development of legislation and implementing rules related to the safety supervision of aeronautical products, as well as of organisations and personnel involved in their operation and of any other related area.

European Network and Information Security Agency
In this context, ENISA's mission is to assist the Community in ensuring particularly high levels of network and information security. The Agency will therefore contribute to the development of a culture of network and information security for the benefit of the citizens, consumers, enterprises and public sector organisations of the European Union, consequently contributing to the smooth functioning of the internal market.
The Agency will assist the Commission, the Member States and the business community in meeting the requirements of network and information security, including those of present and future Community legislation.
