We are looking for a part-time Accounting Assistant who is a team player with excellent communication skills, has an eye for detail, takes pride in achieving results and has a natural desire to take on more responsibility. This role is based in Brussels near the European Commission and you must be willing to work a flexible 25-hour week.
As the Accounting Assistant, you will have accountability for:
- Executing reports and postings related to the general ledger accounting activities
- Identifying and calculating provisions and exceptions to standard bookings
- Reducing exceptions through root cause analysis and implementation of solutions
- Performing period close activities
- Ensuring proper reconciliation of reports and accounts
- Reviewing monthly results
- Preparing internal and external statutory adjustments, reports and documentation
- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and innovative solutions
Requirements
Candidates must have some experience or training in accounting to manage the responsibilities this position requires. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is also required. You must have solid English written and verbal capabilities to work with colleagues on a daily basis in the USA and UK. You must also have a valid Belgian work permit.
