The Loan Officer will identify, appraise, negotiate and monitor lending operations in Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovak Republic according to EIB policies and procedures and with the objective to contribute to EU Policy goals.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Division and cooperate closely with colleagues working in the region.

Responsibilities
Projects origination process:
- Track developments and monitor his/her target market, develop and maintain a network of private and public promoters, borrowers and financial institutions, screen proposals and identify lending opportunities that best meet Corporate Operational Plan objectives
Lending process:
- Evaluate, at an early stage, the quality of potential projects and their chance of success, including where appropriate consultation with other Directorates in order to improve the effectiveness of the appraisal process
- Lead and coordinate the lending process in cooperation with other directorates also under the concept of Global Relationship Management
- Structure loan proposals, evaluate the feasibility, analyse project and financial risks, draft reports and lending proposals in cooperation with the appraisal team
Negotiation of contracts:
- Negotiate terms and conditions of loan and other project documentation with promoter and other counterparts in coordination with appropriate Directorates
- Organise contract signatures and follow-up the ratification of contracts in order to finalise the negotiation and sign the contract
Disbursement and monitoring:
- Monitor the disbursement process and fulfilment of conditions. Follow-up developments of the project, in coordination with Projects Directorate. Ensure, in line with applicable guidelines, a regular review of the financial position of counterparts/projects and contractual provisions
- Carry out due diligence and, in the event of any restructuring and/or contractual modifications negotiate (in liaison with other Directorates) in order to maintain the quality of the loan portfolio and ensure the effective implementation of the financed projects
Optimisation of operating tools and working methods:
- Innovate and suggest improvements of existing tools, systems and products in response to changes in the operational framework
- Ensure correct input of data concerning own area of activity into the management information system in order to contribute to the continuous improvement of working methods and developments of products
Value added:
- Ensure the quality and overall value added of lending operations
Management of teams and projects:
- Share his/her own information and experience in the management of lending operations with other members of the team in order to enlarge the knowledge and competencies of the team

Qualifications
- University degree in finance/economics or any related subject
- 5 years experience in the financial sector, preferably in long term lending / structured finance
- Expertise in financial analysis as well as experience in credit risk assessment
- Knowledge of the standard computer tools
- An excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and a good command of French. Knowledge of other EU languages such as German, Hungarian or Czech would be an advantage
