Solid Waste Specialist

The successful candidate will undertake technical, economic and environmental assessment and monitoring of solid waste investment projects and programmes, in all countries where the Bank operates, and in accordance with its procedures. |
Responsibilities
- Within multidisciplinary teams, appraise and monitor the long-term technical, economic, environmental and social viability of investment projects and programmes in the solid waste sector;
- Contribute to overall sector studies and other analyses as well as development of appraisal methodologies for the sectors;
- Assist in the assessment and definition of country sector strategies and identification of new projects;
- Manage Technical Assistant programmes and external consultants;
- Promote the understanding of the solid waste sector within the Bank. Maintain contacts with outside networks, including the European Commission and other international institutions through active representation at sectoral events.

Qualifications
- University (Engineering or Economics) degree in the field of solid waste management or related discipline;
- At least 8 years of professional experience in the sector including the preparation and screening of feasibility and market studies, profitability and risk analyses, and assessment of corporate and/or public bodies;
- Knowledge of EU regulations ;
- Work experience gained inside and outside the European Union. Awareness of development issues would be a strong advantage;
- Proficiency in standard computer applications
- Excellent knowledge of English or French and a good command of the other.
