Politics in Brussels takes places at the European Parliament. There are two main kinds of jobs at the parliament which involve politics are MEP assistants and working for a political party. MEPs and political groups employ a wide array of people. Political jobs in Brussels vary from MEP stagiares, MEP speech writer, organisers and consultants for the political parties. MEPs have different working styles, some are high profile while others tend not to be. Different working methods means different working atmosphere sin the MEPs offices.
There are Seven political groups and the non attached MEPs. Working for political parties is different than working for a single MEP. The staff working for a political party would be considerably larger. Generally most people work in specialized areas. All people working at the parliament go to Strasbourg a week in every month.

identify upcoming political issues by monitoring news sources and reports of parliamentary debates
conducting research into public opinion
liaising with other members of the political group and other members of the parliament
attending and giving presentations at conferences and seminars
acting as a point of contact for organizations with an interest in policy development (pressure groups, trade associations, etc).
